HSI 1st Annual Color Run

 

Date: Saturday, February 3, 2018

This color walk/run features a designated 3.2 mile and 1-mile course. During the race, participants are doused with color at various color stations ending with one final color celebration at the finish line.

*1-mile fun run for children of all ages. Medals given to all participants. No trophies*

The registration fee includes run/walk registration, individual color packet, race bib, and a My School Color Run T-shirt!

Harmony Public Schools’ Parent Academy is an important school-based initiative designed to strengthen school, home, and community partnerships that equip families with the necessary tools to be strong advocates at home and in their communities.

The Parent Academy sessions are where families have the opportunity to build trusting relationships with school faculty, staff and community partners in order to support their family and scholars on the road to educational success, college and beyond.

We will have in-house session giving information on HPS Digital learning, Skyward/School Cafe, Bullying 101, ESL Student Support.

We will also offer sessions from organizations and businesses from within our community such as State Farm Insurance, Westlake Family Dentistry, The Behavioral Health Solutions of South Texas, It’s Time Texas, Texas Southmost’s College Recruitment Office, City of Brownsville Health Department, and the Cameron County Public Health Department.

La Academia para Padres de las Escuelas Públicas de Harmony es una importante iniciativa escolar diseñada para fortalecer las asociaciones entre la escuela, el hogar y la comunidad que equipan a las familias con las herramientas necesarias para ser fuertes defensores en el hogar y en sus comunidades.

Las sesiones de Parent Academy son donde las familias tienen la oportunidad de construir relaciones de confianza con los profesores de la escuela, el personal y los socios de la comunidad con el fin de apoyar a sus familias y académicos en el camino hacia el éxito educativo, la universidad y más.

Tendremos sesiones en casa con información sobre el aprendizaje digital de HPS, Skyward / School Cafe, Bullying 101, Apoyo para estudiantes de ESL.

Family Spaghetti Night Fundraiser for Summer Bridge Programs

Friday, February 9 at 5 PM – 7 PM

You won’t want to miss out on this delicious meal of spaghetti that is being sponsored by Golden Corral. It will be held on the evening of Parent/Teacher Conference along with an Art Auction. All art work is painted and drawn by our HSI students. Each ticket is $6.00 and will come with spaghetti, salad, bread and tea. Get them early as we only have a limited of tickets available. All proceeds will be used toward the Summer Bridge Programs for our very own students. We appreciate your support and hope to see you here!

No querrá perderse esta deliciosa comida de spaghetti patrocinada por Golden Corral. Se llevará a cabo la noche de la conferencia de padres y maestros junto con una subasta de Arte. Todos los trabajos de arte son pintados y dibujados por nuestros estudiantes de HSI. Cada boleto cuesta $ 6.00 e incluye espagueti, ensalada, pan y té. BEST OF THE BEST, CITY-WIDE MATH MEET

If you are a fifth grader in the Brownsville area looking for a math challenge, “The Best of the Best” may be for you! “The Best of the Best” is a fast-paced, problem-solving/computation competition where students race to see who can correctly answer as many as questions possible. Individual and team scores will be calculated and awards will be rewarded! So join us individually or gather your team of three from your school and join us for this fun competition.

5th grade students will take a test and top students will get below awards. Students will take an individual test focusing on various topics including; mathematical process, numerical representations-relationships, computations, algebra, geometry, probability, data analysis, mental math, and speed math. Though test is challenging, we hope they will be fun for everyone. We have also included several easy questions on the tests so that new competitors can develop their confidence without getting discouraged. The top 10 contestants will receive certificates commemorating their achievement in addition to the top prizes listed below.

These are the awards according to the Written Exam results:

Students: Individual scores will be used.
1st Place – Trophy & I Pad Air
2nd Place – Trophy & Beats by Dr. Dre – Beats Studio2 Wireless Over-Ear Headphones – Gloss White
3rd Place – Trophy & Kindle Fire
4th Place – Trophy
5th Place – Trophy
6-8 students will get medals
Top 10: certificates

Schools: Average of top three students from each school will consist the school score.
1st Place School – Trophy

3rd Place School – Trophy

Teachers: Winning school teacher will be awarded if teacher name and contact information submitted with the student registration.

3rd Place School – $20 Gift Card

Competition Schedule:
Sign-in: 8:30 am – 9:00 am
Written Exam: 9:00 am – 10:30 am
STEM Festival: 10:30 am – 11:30 am
Award Ceremony: 11:30 pm – 12:30 pm
